You Are Viewing Skateboarder Spotlight

As I was browsing Thrasher Magazine earlier watching some videos, I couldn’t help but drool over some of Ben Raemers skate spots in this éS video clip. They remind me of some of the little hidden gems that were hiding all over Stanford University (look for a secret half pipe off Page Mill Road). I’m amazed how the non-skater totally misses these natural wonders of architecture, and with the right skateboarder you can’t help but notice.  Be sure to check Ben’s interview over at éS.

I caught wind of this video clip via a post over at C1RCA’s website. It has some nice variety for being under 2 minutes long, and shows off some especially badass grinds on various kinked rails. I know for me it took me months before I had the balls to try my first boardslide. I never even got close to a kinked rail (my insurance provider thanks me). I have a lot of respect for guys like David Reyes who can make hitting kinks like these look so easy. I guess when you are this good though there isn’t much to be afraid of.

I was just over at Transworld watching some videos and reading some articles when I caught a glimpse of this clip of Austin Kanfoush in the yet to be released Shuffl. Before I even finished watching the video Austin had lived up to the buzz he is generating. I can’t wait to see the rest of what he has in store for us in Shuffl. Austin Kanfoush also recently signed with OJ Wheels, which I believe is named after the fruit and the not the killler football player.

6 year old Korey Frank goes to show that you can never be to young to pick up a skateboard and start shredding. Korey has his own half pipe which he has already started breaking in by spray painting his name on it, dropping in, and busting some nice Rock and Rolls all over it. Check out Korey Frank in this video at GrindTv. I know I wish I started riding this young, although I’m sure I wouldn’t have been even half as good as Korey. Do we have the next Ryan Sheckler in the making here?

I have no doubt that this video is from 1984 even though Rodney Mullen’s skill was well ahead of his time when it came to skateboarding. The tricks may not dazzle those who are impressed by large flights of stairs, but the technical ability of Rodney is hard to surpass.
